Hey family and friends,

Sadly this will be our last post possibly forever. The day has finally come that we are getting rid of our internet and television. After much discussion we decided that we need to be doing everything possible to save money during this time. We are fine, no worries, but we have both had a really strong feeling that we need to do everything we can to build a savings. The first step in this process is getting rid of the cable bill. Next, we are going to downsize my phone to the college plan. Both Daniel and I will still have our original phone numbers. We're sorry we won't get to post pictures or any other fun things. We do have e-mail and facebook through Daniel's phone so you are welcome to communicate with us through that. Thank you all so much for your love and support.

Dear Family and Friends,

I have been getting some not to suttle hints from a certain BOB MAXFIELD (wink wink) that I needed to update this blog. Well he's right. Its been well over a month. As any mom can attest, raising an almost one year old is much more challenging than raising a new baby. I always knew I was out of shape but Mason makes sure I know it every day now. He is so fast. He climbs up the stairs, over the couches, over the toybox, out of his chairs, out of our arms. Lets just put it this way - our little buddy loves to climb. He almost has the walking thing down too. For anyone who's counting there are 97 days left until Disney World. Just thought I'd put that in there.

Hawkes Family Hike

For the Hawkes Family Reunion this year Uncle Bob was in charge. He decided to hike the Darby Wind Caves (which is a beautiful hike!) and we were all invited to come along under the theory that "if you can walk 5 miles you can hike this hike". Well now I'm questioning if I really can walk 5 miles. The first two miles of the hike are pretty standard up and down but the last half mile is literally scaling a waterfall. We left Mason at the bottom of the falls with Uncle Bob and finished the hike. It was truly beautiful and well worth the week of recovery. The pictures are a little deceiving. Daniel was fake climbing the wall. I did, however, go behind the falls. That was just be beginning of the uphill climb to reach the cave which is where the waterfall comes out of the mountain.

Wallace Miller Truck

During the 24th of July Celebration in St. Anthony this year (while we were up there for the Hawkes Family Reunion) the town had a car show and Uncle Tom brought down Great Grandpa Millers truck which won "Best In Show". The truck was purchased by Daniel Gardner Miller (first stake president of the Yellowstone Stake and who Daniel my love was named after) and his some Wallace Miller who used to as a potatoe truck because thats what you do in Idaho. :)

There is a picture of Grandpa Miller and his brother before they passed away standing next to the truck. Of course our little Nascar driver needed to get his hands on that wheel. For those who don't know, Mason loves cars. Yes he's all boy and we love him for it.

Aquarium

There is an aquarium down in Sandy near where we used to live that I've always wanted to go to but I felt weird going since we didn't have any kids. Well this year Mason and I have gone a couple of times and we really enjoy it. They have a section where you can put your hand in a pool and touch the sting rays. The last time we went Mason put him hand in but I didn't have the camera with to get a picture. He really enjoys the story area where they bring out animals and tell you about them. Thats where the snake is from. It scared Mason as much as it scared mommy! He really enjoys the jelly fish because their tank changes colors. Mason will watch them and go "oh wow" every time it changes color. They have a whole section that is dedicated to Utah waterlife. One big tank is full of trout, yes trout. Mason has always been scared of them but this last time we went he got over his fear and made sure they knew it by pounding on the glass. What a kid!

Clinton Days -09

Clinton Days is an event our town does every year almost like a county fair but we don't have a real fair part. They have a bunch of town activities and end it with a parade and fireworks. This year Mom and Dad Maxfield were down to enjoy the parade with us. We had a really good time at the car show too. Mason especially likes the "Tow Mater" truck.

THE FUNNEST 4TH OF JULY EVER!!!

Ok I crammed a lot into this little blog but there was just too much this past weekend! We had the best time with everyone and missed those that weren't there (James). Mason got to try a whole bunch of new things and meet a bunch of new people. It was a bit of overload for him but he sure slept well each night :). We love you all and thank all of you for your hospitality toward us.

Thanks to Uncle Scotty, Mason got to go to his first baseball game on the 4th. Luckily for him the I.F. Chuckars (I didn't pick the name) won their game againts the Orem Owls. Mason had a blast! Mostly because he got to play with Marley and eat a bunch of junk food. We found out the night before that Mason is not the biggest fan of fireworks so we left when the big ones were starting. Plus we made it out of traffic unlike all you suckers (neener neener neener).

Since we had all the fam up we were lucky enough to get pictures. If you saw the progression of pictures that Daniel took this picture would make more sense but lets just say Mason has a mean left hook but McKinley is still stronger overall. Don't worry, no one was harmed in the taking of these pictures.

When Jo Mamma and I were talking the other day she commented on how cute her grandkids are (I of course could not disagree). This picture just proves that. I guess Brett and Thomas were right all along, they are pretty darn good looking - Jack's good looking too but he's a little more humble about his hotness than Brett and Tom.

After all the hoopla that has been going on my boys were pooped. Mason sure loves his daddy with all his heart. They have started running together at night time and Mason loves all the attention he gets from his daddy.

When Brett's family was out here we had the EXTREME pleasure of having them stay at our house. (It really meant the world to me to have you guys stay here, really!) We got to spend the day at the Hogle Zoo and meet all the animals. At the zoo Mason got to ride on his first ever carosel. Of course he got to ride the big GREEN snake. What a Mason! We also had the pleasure of driving all over the valley looking for a restaurant. What kind of nice restaurant is not open for lunch on a weekday I mean really?

We miss you all already and are WAY too excited to see you all again. It might in part be because the next time we get to see the whole fam damly together will be in Disney World. Just maybe!

Dear Family and Friends,

I know I just updated this yesterday (after not doing anything for a month!) but I have some bad news. Not cry your eyes out news but just stinky news. We're going to be getting rid of our home internet for a while. Why you may ask? Because its just too darn expensive! :) As soon as we can steal our neighbors WiFi I'll start updating this blog again. Sorry to bring the bad news. If you have updates for us, we'll still be able to check things on Daniel's work computer and at the library. We're excited for the summer and can't wait to see you all soon. Keep in touch. I've been more than a bit behind in getting this updated. You'll just have to forgive me. :)

I'm review: My birthday was last week and Daniel gave me the BIGGEST gift ever! He took me to Vegas (san Mason who was with all his grandparents) and we went to the Dane Cook show. If you don't know him, he's a comedian. He's funny but I'll be the first to admit he's rather crude.

We first went to Idaho to get rid of Mason...just kidding, we missed him terribly! We got the chance to go through Yellowstone Park with Mason and see a Grizzly Bear. A real one. Not far away. It was cool.

For those we haven't talked to lately or who read this blog and are therefore not up to date with our little buddy - again so sorry - he has become VERY mobile. We have to keep a close eye on him because he loves to throw his ball and go fetch it, even if that means going down the stairs!

Grandma and Grandpa Maxfield gave Mason a rocking horse for Christmas and Mason has decided the horse is his new best friend. Not only can he ride it all by himself, he thoroughly enjoys giving it kisses! Word to the wise, if Mason grabs your hair and starts pulling you into him he's just trying to give you a kiss. He's a very passionate little boy! :)

We are very excited to see the whole Maxfield clan this summer when Brett and his brood come out and we're excited to spend lots of time at Miller's too. We're already planning ahead for more "Miller Family Adventures" as we like to call them. We're planning at least two canoe trips and would love all the company we can get! :)

This week in review 4/12-4/18

Last week was packed with really fun and exciting family memories. Thanks to mom and dad for coming down and taking Mason and me shopping. I really needed that. You have no idea how much I miss you all. Hope to see you all soon. If not, call me sometime. I love you all.
Well it has happened. Mason is now big enough -at least he thinks so- that he can nearly climb out of his crib. I guess the time has come to lower the the mattress. For a while he has been doing this let me out of jail face and when I was in there the other day folding laundry he managed to pull himself up which makes most of his top half hang over. He's not strong enough yet to stand on his own for too long so as you can guess I nearly jumped out of my skin to grab him. He didn't fall, he's just fine. He's also really mobile as of lately. His crawling looks more like a snake slithering because he just uses his arms but he sure knows how to get to places. Outlets and electric chords are his favorite targets. I'm not sure why but now I know why everyone has those little outlet covers.

On Saturday we headed down to the Buckley cabin and make a stop at the BYU creamery. They didn't have the really special flavors like Lavell Edwards but it was still yummy. Plus we got some creamery chocolate milk...Daniel was in heaven. It was such a nice day that we decided to sit on the grass and eat it. It got really windy before we could go on a walk.

This looks like one of those Magic Eye pictures. If you look close you can see the deer in the background. When we were packing up to leave the cabin (by the way the floor looks AWESOME) Daniel spotted these little critters just to the north of the cabin. Literally they were almost on our property. We watched them from the porch for a while until they moved around back then we went to the Master bedroom to look. I got brave and decided to go out the back door. They didn't even seem to care that we were there. They just ate. It was really cool.

If you read a little further down the page you can see that Mason got a pool from the Easter Bunny. Well this week it was finally nice enough that we could use it. He and I went out together early in the morning just after Daniel left. We set it up, filled it with water so it could get warm, and filled it with all of Mason's favorite water toys. We had Val and the boys over for a quick picnic lunch then they got in the pool.

I have to tell you, seeing all three of those boys in that teeny tiny swimming pool made me want to recite the rub-a-dub-dub poem. The funny thing was they didn't really care that they were pretty much sitting on top of each other. Mason thought he was in heaven. He was trying to show off all the things that he loves to do in the bathtub like splashing and pouring things out. The older boys didn't get it but I sure got a chuckle out of it. Hopefully these clouds go away and we get another day to go play in the pool again.

We had a picnic lunch at our house with the Howards (Daniel's older sister and her family). We did a little egg hunt for the kids. It was a blast and might I add the food was AMAZING. I'm just giving myself a nice little pat on the back for that. The best by far were the mini carrot cakes. Yum Yum.

If you can't tell by the progression of these pictures, Mason liked his new swimming pool a little too much. He was very excited to find his own way into it which as you can see led to the pool being on Mason not Mason being in the pool.

Its cute and all but it did take him a couple of minutes to figure out what on earth had happened and why he was suddenly in the dark. Daniel was kind enough to get him out before he started crying but we were already crying from laughing so hard.

Mason has definately brought joy into our lives over these past 6 months. It seems like he was always here but were are so happy to have him.

The "Eather Bunny" stopped by our house and left Mason a swimming pool and tug boats to play with this summer. He also brought mommy and daddy new swim suits so we can play in the pool too. I know Mason doesn't understand yet what all of this means but he sure did seem exited to see surprises waiting for him in the morning.

Daniel and I teach the 8 year old primary class, the one in which the kids are going to be baptized. Mason loves to be in the class with all the big kids. He seems to think he's 8. He has a lot of fun with all the kids. He has even began a little bit to understand what it means when we say prayer. When I say "It's time for prayer Mason, fold your arms" he doesn't fold his arms but he does stay really quite until I say "Amen" then he makes a little coo sound. He is such a special boy and we feel so blessed that he finally decided to come join our family. We love you all and miss you so much. Brett and Melissa; you are in our prayers. Zoo Day With Grandma

On St. Patricks Day Mom Maxfield came down and went with Mason and I to the zoo. Mason was thrilled to see all his friends from Madagascar (his favorite movie) and hang out with grandma. We got a little sun burned if you can believe it. There are tons of new things that I didn't remember from when I was young like this huge elephant that plays music if you get too close. Some of the little kids said he squirts water in the summer. I'm looking forward to that! Thanks for the fun mom. Love you.

5 Years and Counting

As many of you know we just celebrated our fifth anniversary. Who would have thought we'd make it five years and still want to be together? ...it was a rhetorical question. :) We had a great time swimming and resting. We also had quite an adventure gettng there since we hadn't been there before. All in all it was a really fun time we all got to share.

Mason's BIG Week

This last week was a big one for Mason. Not only did he celebrate his 5 month birthday but he got his first tooth on Monday and he got his first hair cut on Wednesday. These are pictures of him getting his hair cut and the cute after shots. Unfortunately we can't get a picture of his adorable little tooth because he refuses to move his tongue when we are trying to take pictures. Its the bottom left front tooth. The bottom right front tooth has started coming in too, just in the past couple of days. They are still really small. They don't seem to want to come in all the way. Luckily for Mason they aren't hurting him very much. The hair cut on the other hand...you'd think I was stabbing him. He likes to get hair cuts just about as much as his Daddy, which is not at all. Again we love you all and I'm sorry it has taken me so long to update this.

Mason Turned 5 Months!

For Mason's 5 month birthday we took him down to the Mayan Restraunt in Sandy. We went there about two years ago with Brett, Melissa, McKinley and Thomas for Tom's birthday and really enjoyed it. Daniel heard they got a new chef and we were heading down that direction to go to the Great RV/Outdoor Expo so we thought what the heck, why not. Mason absolutely loved it!! He didn't like the noise...its really noisey in there. When you walk in the front door its like you have walked into the jungle and you are about to go on a safari. In fact when they call your name they tell you "Daniel Miller, your Mayan adventure is ready to begin". They have cliff divers that dive every 15 min. About every half hour they do a show where they come out and interact with the crowd of little kids standing near the water. Mason LOVED watching them play in the water. He was waving his arms and legs like crazy, probably because he wanted to jump in and play too. All in all it was an awesome day and we had a great time. Love you all.

P.S. Those are the shoes grandma and grandpa Maxfield got him and they already fit. :( He's growing up too fast.

Farewell Elder Miller!

Mason and I got to go with the Millers on February 11th to see James enter the MTC. I haven't been back there since Brett left however many millenia that was ago. It was really fun and Mason was really well behaved. For some the pictures of Mason with James at breakfast got lost. I'm not sure but I wasn't the one taking the pictures so I never really checked to make sure they were on there anyway. It's ok. We already miss you Jamers. Hope you are doing well. We'll pray for you. Don't forget to love those little Asians. (ha ha ha)

I'm sorry to everyone else out there who might think their baby is cute. Mason is just the most adorable baby is the whole wide world...and we love him! This just happened to be his first meal of "big boy" food. He was way more excited to play with the food then to eat it. If you look closely he is wearing a good 90% of the cereal in that bowl by the end. I'm just sure that he will be telling me "I do it" before I know it.

Family Shout Out

I have to give a big shout out to my dear sis-in-law Melissa. I have had this blog for a few months now and really haven't been able to do much because of Mason. Way to go you for keeping up on your blog AND taking care of your little baby ... and McKinley and Annababy too! I love you all and miss seeing everyone.

P.S. Disney fever has swept through this house. 10 more months is a long time to wait.

P.P.S. Mason went in for his 4 month check up today and he is 26" long and weighs 15.5 lbs. We're so proud of our "little dude".

Hello friends and family. We have been without a computer for far too long and thanks to the great people at PC Laptops we are back in commission AND still have all the pictures we had saved to the computer. As soon as we get some pictures on here I'll post them.

We have had a great year so far and are so happy that we have all of you in our lives. We do feel like we are missing out by not getting to see Anna"baby" yet. Hopefully we will get to see her before she's all grown up.

After being in the lodge all day on Thanksgiving, we decided to take Mason around the Place to show him all of Daniel's special places. We got maybe half-way across the field when Mason had fallen to sleep so we got a lot of good pictures of him at the Place...sleeping. It's ok though, it had been a really eventful day.

It has been our family tradition for the past couple of years to stay the night at the Lodge the night before Thanksgiving and put the turkey in the oven in the morning. This year we woke up extra early so we would have time to make my special Jello-Pretzel-Salad. Mason decided he wanted to help. Its a good thing he is such a good boy. Daniel loves to get crazy pictures of Mason.

I think this is the most AWESOME picture. Terry and Toni with all their grandchildren. From the left: Dillan Howard, Kassidy Howard, Marley Miller, Mason Miller, Kyle Howard. Not only is this a really cool picture but it is incredibly rare to be able to slow down all these kids enough to get a picture...and together non the less!

I only threw this picture in because it was one of the only ones that didn't make me look huge. Say what you want but those baby pounds are going to be bye-bye!

We were able to bless Mason this Sunday in the Miller's ward (Daniel's home ward - St. Anthony 3rd). It was so special to have all our family there. We want to thank you all! I was a little worried because Toni had told us they weren't allowing more than the father and the grandfathers to be in the circle and I really wanted to have Mason's uncles be a part of this. Bishop Eckman was very kind to allow James and Jack to participate also. Just seeing them all up there made my cry. Then Daniel's beautiful blessing (and getting choked up giving it) made me cry even harder. What a special experience that Mason was able to have.

P.S. That flame coming up out of the back of Mason's head is really his hair. I tried really hard to get it to stay down but it just wouldn't cooperate!

I just wanted to thank you all for this beautiful weekend. We felt so blessed to be able to see everyone. This Thanksgiving we want you all to know that we are thankful for you, your kindness and generosity, and the love and prayers that have been said in our behalf. We would not be the family we are without the friends and family that we have.

Little Mr. Sure Steel

Hello All!! Just wanted to update everyone and make sure they knew that Mason is by far the cutest 2 month old out there. That's right, he is two months old on the 22nd. What a big boy! He still isn't sleeping through the night but thats ok because I really like spending time with him. Although it appears that he is wearing a U of U hat do not be fooled, he is "true blue through and through". The hat is Daniel's work hat. I'll update this again after our Cougars kick some Ute buns tomorrow. Love you all!

Mason's First Swim Lesson - Kinda

We were in Idaho the first weekend of November for Uncle Blake's wedding and my parents were kind enough to take us to Green Canyon. The whole time I was pregnant I wanted to go there and sit in the hot tub because my body was aching so much. I thought this would be a great time to introduce Mason to the water since he loves bathes and mom loves the pool ;). Daniel was a little hesitant since he was just 6 weeks old. I don't blame him. I was nervous too but it went really great. Mason LOVES the water, as long as it is warm and he can submerge his big tummy. He was doing great in the water, just floating around and doing little kicks with this legs. Now when he takes baths he kicks his legs so the water will splash all over. It makes me happy that he is a water boy like his mom. :)

Happy Halloween!!!

This is our first real Halloween since we got married. We have been in apartments or the trailor for each of the previous Halloweens which means we really didn't ever get trick or treaters. We had about 50 kids come by. I guess I can't call them all kids since there were a good number of teenagers. I remember being 13 years old and having people not give me candy saying I was too old. Nearly half the kids that came by had to be in high school.

Anyway, here are the cutest pictures of Mason. He was a pumpkin and Dan and I were farmers. We got the onesie from friends but Dan got him the hat. Apparently Mason has a huge head because the hat didn't really fit so he threw a fit. These are the least crying pictures.

Mason thinks he is so grown up. He likes to sit up and watch TV with Mommy and Daddy like a big boy. When Daniel gets home from work, whether Mason is sleeping or not, he will instantly be wide awake and ready to play with Daddy. It's so cute...except he doesn't want to go to bed when the time comes. He'd rather just play with Daddy.

This is just a cute picture of Grandpa doing what he does best...burping babies. Jack and I were talking about it when he came to visit and we decided that Dad is by far the best burper because his hands are so huge and always hot. They are far too comfortable, especially for back rubs (hint hint).

"Mr. Cool" wearing Daddy's sun glasses. Maybe I'm the only one but does't Mason look just like Daniel in this picture? It's almost uncanny!

And you all thought Daniel and I were obsessed with Disney! Look at Mr. Mason and his nice collection! He's just about as excited to go to Disneyworld next year as we are. Well at least I think so. Daniel and I tell him stories about how great Disney is and I like to sing him Disney songs when he fusses to calm him down. It has worked so far therefore I assume he's a Disney fan too!

I LOVE this picture! This is our 4 generation picture with Great-Grandma Maxfield, Grandpa Maxfield, Mom, and Baby Mason. I can't tell you all how much this picture means to me.

Daniel loves to give Mason kisses especially on his HUGE, CHUBBY cheeks. Mason has started responding when Daniel says "Give kisses to Daddy". He will turn his head toward Daniel like he knows whats coming. It's way too cute.

Well I'll make sure to keep the camera handy just in case we do something fun and exciting in our lives that we would want to share with you. Again we love you all and are so excited to see Melissa and McKinley this weekend (and hopefully again next weekend - congratulations Uncle Blake on the Engagement/Wedding!).

HE'S HERE!!!!

At 2:56 pm on September 22nd Mason Blaine Miller made his grand appearance into this world!! We could not be happier with how things turned out. He is healthy and strong and such a good baby! He was 20 1/2 inches long and weighed 8 lbs and 11 ounces. I know you are all wondering and yes his hair is red. There is an aweful lot of it too. I was surprised since I was a baldy. If you can't tell from the pictures, he is super chunck. He has skinny arms and legs and the chubbiest cheeks you can imagine. They are way too fun to kiss!!! We feel incredibly blessed that he finally made it! Sorry it took me so long to get these pictures posted but as you can imagine we have been a little busy as of late.

I need to give a HUGE thanks to mom (JO JO) for coming down here and staying with me the first week when Daniel had to go back to work. I really don't think I could have made it without her. We love you all and are looking forward to seeing most of you soon.

Just a little quicky note from the Miller's

Hey Family and Friends,

This is just a quick note from the holiday. Sorry I'm still way behind of getting the camera working. :) I better get it set up soon because we have some fun news to share. We just went to the Dr. today and apparently I'm a little farther along then we thought. Mason was measured for size and possible due date. He was not happy to have the ultrasound on him. He kept kicking the monitor so it would slide to the side. Daniel was laughing. It was kind of funny. Apparently Mason is almost ready to come. He's over 7 lbs already! I'm already 2 centimeters dialated and 65% effaced. The Dr. said we would be lucky if we made it to the 17th so for all of you making bets you might want to re-evaluate your choice. :)

We are WAY to excited for Disney World

I know we are getting ahead of ourselves but we are already planning our trip to Disney World (fall/winter '09). Daniel has been looking up our WorldMark hotel in Orlando and we can't be more excited with how close it is to all the things we want to do. I think we are going to reserve it for October and December since no one knows for sure what their plans will allow. Brett, Jack, Bobby and Jo Jo: let me know if you guys want rooms with us so we can get it reserved for you too. It's centrally located so we only have short drives to Disney World, Sea World, Kennedy Space Center, and Universal Studios. I know Mason will only be a year old but McKinley was just 10 months when we last went to Disney World and she seemed to have a great time. Fingers crossed that all goes according to plans.

As I told you all last time, we finally got a camera. I took a couple of pictures at the baby shower this weekend but unfortunately I have no idea how to get them onto the computer so you will all have to wait until Daniel gets a break to set it up for me :P!

If you noticed we have our countdown going until Mason's due date. I have a feeling he will be right on time but I've been hearing from others that they think he will be early. What do you think? I think the closest bet should win a prize or something. I think its a given that those who have birthdays in September hold claim to those days; Stacey gets the 18th, Jo Jo gets the 21st, and Elder Maxfield himself gets the 25th. Let me know if you want to place a bet and what you think a good prize should be. You can e-mail me your bet at millerdbjj@hotmail.com. We'll make sure everyone knows when he gets here.

Hello friends and family! We finally made it!

I know we are the last ones to jump on the blogging bandwagon - mom and dad like to remind me - but we made it. Just in time too since we are expecting Mason to come into our family sometime in the next month. That's right, just one month left. For those who are coming to the baby shower this Saturday (thank you Val) I'll see you soon. For those who can't make it we'll see you later. We love you all and hope you all enjoy this as much as we will.

Thanks to Melissa and Erika who have shown me the way of how to get this started. And thanks to their lazy husbands who don't blog...humhum Brett and Jack...that make me look like the good sibling. Apparently I'm the only Maxfield who is doing this. Of course you all know I'm kidding. You'll have to bare with me and all my sarcasm. I have no inner monologue, right Dad?
